Hawaii is an enchanting island painted with beaches, rainbows, and stunning views. It’s also home to very delicious food, from loco moco to spam musubi.
Hawaiians specialize in barbecue. Maybe it’s due to the weather or to the appreciation of barbecue-friendly meats like chicken, pork, and seafood.
Today’s recipe is grilled Hawaiian chicken sandwiches with pineapple barbecue sauce, grilled pineapple, red onion, and jalapeno. This is one delicious bite!

Steps
1 Done | Put the chicken pieces into a large zipper bag and pour in the marinade. |
2 Done | Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or up to overnight. |
3 Done | Remove the chicken from the bag and discard the marinade. |
4 Done | Preheat your grill for medium-high heat. When hot enough, oil the grate slightly. |
5 Done | Grill the chicken pieces on both sides for about 10 minutes, or until done fully. About 5 minutes before they are cooked, put the pineapple rings on the grill and cook for two minutes on each side. |
6 Done | Next, put the pineapple slices on top of the pieces of chicken and add a slice of the provolone cheese. Close the lid to the grill and let everything grill for a minute, until the cheese fully melts. Toast the buns, if you prefer. |
7 Done | To make the sandwiches, put the grilled chicken, pineapple and provolone cheese on the buns. Place the lettuce and tomato on top. Spread the thousand island dressing on the top buns and join the two side of the buns together. |
