Steps
Done | First of all, get all your ingredients with the correct measurements and place them on your work surface. Next, preheat your grill to medium-high. Next, throw the peeled tomatoes along with the onion and garlic on the grill. Simmer these vegetables for about 8 to 10 minutes until they are evenly charred. |
Done | Let your vegetables cool down for a few minutes. Once your garlic is cool enough, start peeling the cloves. Then, throw all your grilled vegetables in a blender or food processor. Pulse to blend until the mixture is smooth and unified. Next, grab a medium saucepan and place a thin mesh sieve on top of it. Pour your blended vegetables on the mesh and keep pressing the solid parts to get as much juice as possible. |
Done | After throwing away the solid parts, place the final amount of juice you got from the grilled vegetables in a bowl. Place the bowl on your cooker and start by lowering the heat grade. Keep simmering the mix of vegetables for about 30 minutes until it thickens. |
Done | On the other hand, while your mixture is being cooked, grab a small saucepan and mix together all the other ingredients you left: vinegar, sugar, and varied spices. Simmer down the mixture while you stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. |
Done | Once your tomato juice is thick enough, pour the vinegar that you have mixed with the different spices and strain it in the mixture of tomato and the other vegetables. Keep cooking the combination of tomato and vinegar for about 20 to 30 minutes with a low heat degree. Don’t let your ketchup become way too thick, it needs to be thick, but still, you should be able to pour it. |
Done | Now that your Fire Roasted Ketchup is ready let it cool before you serve it or store it. Use a lidded bottle or a jar to store your ketchup; you can store it for about 2 to 3 months. |
