Hamburger buns are a type of bread characterized by a round shape, specifically designed as a part of the hamburger, to go with the patty and other ingredients, hence their name. Although they are typically associated with hamburgers, they also come in handy with sandwiches and other recipes. Hamburger buns were invented in 1916; by a fry cook named Walter Anderson. Basic hamburger buns are usually baked using eggs, butter, flour, yeast, and sugar, and sometimes they are seasoned or sprinkled with sesame seeds. Although they are normally sweet, hamburger buns can come in other varieties with different tastes and even different shapes and sizes. Hamburger buns are high in fat and carbohydrates and can cause weight gain when consumed regularly in the long term. But some variations, such as whole wheat, can be less harmful. Either way, it is widely agreed upon that burgers, and other fast foods that resemble it in their structure, are much healthier when they are made at home. Hamburger buns can be bought fresh from the bakery or ready-made in a plastic package from the supermarket. They can also be made at home with seven easy steps:
1. Mix yeast and warm water in a bowl. Add sugar and oil.
2. Let the blend rest for 5 minutes.
3. Add eggs, salt, and flour.
4. Knead the dough in a mixer until it gets smooth and elastic.
5. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
6. Shape the buns and place them on the baking tray.
7. Bake for 12 minutes.
