Dill is a green plant that belongs to the celery and parsley family. The dill leaves are named dill weed. They are extremely thin and soft. You can plant dill in your garden or a container; it grows between late spring and summer. Dill has various culinary uses. It is used frequently at the end of cooking to add an aromatic flavor to the dish. Dill leaves or dill weed can be used fresh, dried, or crushed. Dill can be combined with chicken to make dill pickle chicken or used to create a creamy dipping sauce that will work like a charm on Greek lamb meatballs. Dill will also pair well with fish like salmon and can be used in salads. To store the dill herb, there are three ways. First, you need to put it in a zip lock bag and put it in the refrigerator in the vegetable bin, it will last for another week. Second, you can dry dill leaves and put them in an airtight container in a pantry; hence they can last for almost 6 months. Third, you can just put the fresh dill weed in the freezer while it will last nearly two months. Dill is available dried at supermarkets in the spices section or fresh in the vegetable section and at the grocery stores.
