Also known as Roquette in French, Arugula is a plant grown in the Mediterranean region. It has a fresh and peppery flavor. It was added to salads since the Roman times, and later on pizzas. In the 18th century, it was brought to the United States by the British colonists. Arugula is widely used worldwide but certainly in different ways. For example, Arugula is served in Turkey as a side dish and often added to salads with fish. In India and Pakistan, Arugula is commonly used in making oils like Taramira oil, but in Italy, it is used to make pasta, and tomatoes salads that are often served with mozzarella cheese and burrata (an Italien cheese) Arugula is rich in Vitamin A, C, K, calcium, and potassium; it also helps in fighting cancer, detoxing your body, losing weight, and reducing inflammations.
